Password Database Missing Problem With Suse
HI ALL,
I need help. I have a machine with suse linux and Recently I have configures the NIS CLIENT ON IT..After configuring NIS i reboot the system but after rebooting my GNOME X DISPLAY was not opening and giving error "user gdm does not exist". And immediately thron me to the command prompt..Now when I was trying to login using root it was giving error "User root does not exist..Password database missing".. I tryed to boot into init 1 i.e in single user mode .. but still failed aby giving error password database missing..
luckily I was able to goto bash mode by typing init=/bin/bash at boot....But from t r also i was not able to change root passwd as system gives error user root does not exist...both /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow file are intact........
Not a single default system user is able to login..But my nis is workign.....
pLease suggess me any solution to recreated password database.
Thanks,
