I'm quite the noob on this but theoretically would'nt the tap interface rules be appended to my second routing table for this to work? As it is now, the tap interface is attached to the main table.

I've got this working with two separate iptables, one with the default connections and one with the rtorrent. However, i got i to work only with the tun0 device.

I've solved this. The solution was to find a provider that uses the tun interface and then use two extra route tables. One for default and one for the VPN tunneling.
