mouse struggles

I have installed Mandrake Linux 9.0 recently. I have some problems after installing it.

I have Logitech First Mouse PS2 type mouse. Mandrake detected as PS2 Standard mouse. Problem is, the linux did not detect the mouse SOMETIMES automatically. I have to restart the machine and this time the mouse works.

Also the mouse does not get detected automatically sometimes in windows 98 also. I have to restart again. This happens particularly when restarted to windows from linux directly using shutdown option in login graphical screen.

Some time while booting, Keyboard error occurs. I have to press F1 to continue.

In windows 98, some time I get DLS error which didn't detect DirectX presence.

I have used Mandrake 8.2 priorily without problems of any kind above. I installed the Mandrake 9.0 as new install not as an upgrade. I have not changed any hardwae.

Please help me to find the source of the problem and solution to rectify it.

Thank you Very much for your time and efforts.

Regards
Sathish,
From India.

I get Update ESCD successfully message at the boot time which I didn't notice during Mandrake 8.2.

The mouse was working fine with Mandrake 8.2 Under the same configuration. After Installing 9.0 I do get errors in windows too(Not detecting mouse and Direct X). Mouse is a PS/2 mouse. Some times I get Keyboard error, which goes off after pressing F1.

Thanks for the response.
