Hi guys! I'm writing because I'm having problems setting up my linux box as a router for the rest of my network.
I have a total of 4-5 computers on the network, including this linux box. Nothing faster than 56k dialup is available where I live, so I would like to attach a modem to my linux (gentoo) box and have it route the other computers' network traffic through its own modem. I have looked up various tutorials on the net for exactly this, but none of them seem to work. I have a working ppp setup on the machine, and pon/poff will successfully connect or disconnect. The tutorials I've followed (which I'd post links to, but I'm not allowed to since I'm a n00b) have a few iptables commands, which I've input with no errors. I've also configured my other machines to use the gentoo box as a gateway, and set up their dns to match my ISP's dns. The machines can all communicate on the internal network, and I can ssh to and from the gentoo box, so the network is working.
Does anyone know of a tutorial they've verified works somewhere, or could someone maybe guide me through the process?
Thank you
