not detrecting nic.

Hey, it's me again, i a while ago thoght that i had broken my nic, but now it may be possible that i just delted something that i shouldn't have. My sound also isn't working.
Is there anyone who can tell me the route to take to find whats missing?, and maybe to get it back.

'lspci' lists pci hardware attached to the system; see if an Ethernet controller is listed. [This is from my system: 00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139 (rev 10)] That will tell you what driver you need (either built into the kernel or as loadable module). Look at the dmesg output to see if the system recognizes a nic on startup; if the module is built in it should, but if it's a loadable module you have to tell the system to load it, presumably on startup - check out /etc/modules.
