NIC Driver Update

Hey folks,

Would appreciate help on properly updating NIC drivers on an older Dell R610 running Ubuntu. Dell's site is utterly confusing and not really helpful.

This is my output:

Code:

        DeviceName: Embedded NIC 1

Subsystem: Dell PowerEdge R610 BCM5709 Gigabit Ethernet

Is their some reason you want to update the driver?
The NIC driver is supplied by the kernel, so other then patching that in yourself if you can find the source from Dell, you could upgrade the kernel using the Ubuntu Mainline tool. https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php...tu-linux-mint/
That is assuming the updates you are looking for made it into the kernel.

Yes, I don't really understand why do you want to update and what. Does it work properly? Is there any problem to solve?

As far as I see the drivers of the "old" hardware are already made, they are not refreshed/updated any more. Why do you want to fix it if it works?
