Networking No Longer Working Under XP After SUSE Install?
Hi there everyone.
Recently I installed SUSE 10.0 64Bit to my computer which was already running windows XP on a separate partition. Now, for some reason running under Windows XP I no longer can connect to another computer via a cross over cable. Namely I used to connect to my Xbox (IP Address 192.168.0.4 – Static) and (Windows XP, My computer 192.168.0.1).
Could installing SUSE on this computer be conflicting in any way with my Windows XP installation?
It seems I have searched everywhere and I cannot find any answers to this…
My setup is as follows:
Shuttle SN95G5 V2.
AMD 3000+ 64bit
Corsair 3200 512Mb x2
Hard Drive 1: Seagate 250 GB (2 Partitions WinXP NTFS and Extended Partition NTFS for Storage)
Hard Drive 2: Western Digital 250GB (3 Partitions SUSE 10.0, Fat32 partition, and another Extended Partition NTFS)
Currently under “Network connections” I have two connection visible.
One local area connection and one Ethernet Adapter.
The Local Area Connection is indicating that the cable is disconnected (Which is not true). Everything in terms of ICP/TP settings appear to be correct and the same as they were when they were working?
I can ping 192.168.0.1 and the internal loop IP address but not 192.168.0.4?
IPConfig tells me that “Media is disconnected”?
Also the Ethernet adapter is currently connected and under setting it says that ICP/TP is not enabled for the connection when I attempt to repair?
This has happened twice now the first time I did a format reinstall which worked until I reinstalled SUSE 10.0?
I do not want to do this again. I have also gone into SUSE and uninstalled all packages related to networking?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks in advance.
