Network - Time delayed Crash 'n Burn

Good day everyone

I am having lots of fun figuring this one out.

Problem
--------------

My Suse 9.2 box connects to an XP machine hosting my internet (No this isn't the problem), after a couple of minutes my network card goes dead, I cannot ping out, I cannot surf and i cannot access samba shares. I then open a console go into root mode and type ifdown eth0, ifup eth0 to get things up and running again. When I try to copy a file through SAMBA it stalls after about 10 to 20 MB and the network card goes dead.

My IP is manual 192.168.0.2, not DHCP.

My card: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6120/VT6121/VT6122 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

I downloaded the latest drivers from viaarena, installed then and it improved the speed dramaticly but still leaves the problem of the network card thats had a cyber steam roller through it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Sincerely

Marc Arndt
