Network problem

My apologies in advance if this is a dumb question but I am a complete newbie to Linux.

I have a home network comprising 3 computers linked to each other via an ADSL Router.
One computer runs Windows XP Pro, the secons Windows 98 SE and the third RedHat Linux 9.
The computers are able to see each other fine and I am able to access all computers from either of the windows systems.
However when I click on Network servers in Linux, although I can see all computers and I can access both windows computers, when I click on LocalHost, I get the following error message

Couldn't display "smb://localhost/", because the attempt to log in failed

I have samba running on my Linux system and have tries stopping and restarting smb but still have the same problem
The problem only occurs when I click on Local Host while in the Linux system.
I can access localhost from both windows systems.

Can anyone help

I guess I don't really understand your question correctly, are you trying to Samba to yourself?
