Network printing to Samsung 2010, XP to ubuntu

Hi,

I'm printing on a Hardy Heron server connected to a Samsung ML 2010 Laser printer from XP machines on the network.

My problem is that the XP machines print output is badly distorted.

The Ubuntu machine prints perfectly (no set needed, bloody amazing!)

Can anyone suggest any solutions?

I seem to remember that there are samba options for 'raw' printing and for postscript output.

Thanks very much,

Dave Coventry

I suggest that you set up a second "raw" print queue in CUPS that connects to your printer.
On the XP machines, install the Windows printer driver, so that it points to the "raw" queue. This causes the print file to be prepared on the XP machine and then sent to the printer as is.

Good idea!

Actually that was largely what I was hoping to do.

Can you give me a few instructions on setting that up in Samba? Or do I need to configure CUPS itself?

I'm on a VERY slow dialup, using someone elses phone line which I don't want to abuse, so please don't say "Google is your friend!".

Just set up the print queue in CUPS. Your Samba smf.conf file is probably already set to load all printers.
