network configuring?


i first had my debian server connected to a router with dhcp.. now i have it on a router without dhcp. i tried to edit some config file and set the ip adress and submask but with no luck.. any sugestions??

Are you trying to connect to the internet? You also need to define the default gateway address. It will be the address of your router. Another thing you are missing is the entries in /etc/resolve.conf for the nameservers (DNS). These are needed to resolve names to IP addresses.

There is probably a interface configuration utility where these can be entered. You might also look into setting the firewall settings.
