netconfig doesn't enter ip

Hi,

I would like to set up my laptop for a broadband-network with a set IP. Now I do netconfig. Unfortunately netconfig does "forget" about the ip and so one as I press okay. The values are not entered anywhere. So do you have any idea how to proceed?
The network was working in Fedora3 all right, now after an update the problems above occured. Do you know if I have to start scripts or the network manually? Why does netconfig (or setup) not work?

Sounds like you have a dhcp thing getting in the way. Are you removing the dhcp option from the config section of that device?

It may be the same as debian where
vim /etc/network/interfaces

iface eth0 inet static
14 address 172.20.2.33
15 netmask 255.255.254.0
16 network 172.20.2.0
17 gateway 172.20.2.42

Hi,

I found the problem: you cannot configure in FC4 with netconfig any more. It must be systemconfig-network for a configuration. Why is unsure but that way it works.
