Need help seting up network card and network.

I just installed Linux Mandrake 9.0 and I don't know anything about the Linux operating system. What I need to do first off is set up my Network Card and then do what needs to be done to share a internet connection through a Windows XP Pro machine. My question is how can I tell if my Network Card is installed or not? And if not, how do I install it?

try running netconfig. You could also try running mandrake control center and go under the information tab and find network interfaces and also the network tab might help out. Go under the start menu, go into configuration. From there go into hardware and run harddrake to look your system to tell you if your network card is being seen. Also under config. there is a network tab from which you can run netconfig.
