ndiswrapper, ubuntu: works for one user, not for another

Hi

I have ndiswrapper working on my ubuntu 8.10 box (and wasn't that a mysterious struggle). However now I just created a new user and tried to log in as that user to find that the networking seems not to be available to that new user.

can anyone suggest where I might begin looking into this one?

Does it show that the driver is installed with "ndiswrapper -l" under the new user? It might be that you have to install the driver for each user.

What wireless card is it that you're using?

Ok

problem solved.

Just as mysterious as my initial solution. It seems that what I needed to do was:

shut down
start up
login as that user (not login as one user then login as the other user)
pull the card out
put the card back in

job done

wish that made sence
