My modem went kapput

I think my modem died. When I use my script to login to my ISP, it sits there for about 3 minutes, then it dials. After it gets connected, it says :

all had bit 7 set to 0

now that usually means that you are trying to login before your isp connects you. Does anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks,
Skeasor
