mrtg installation
Our plan is to configure a linux router, then we
want to configure the existing network in that linux router, with all the
configurations in our network. (including the public ip's to our clients,
bandwidth managing, vlan setup everything as our existing network).
2) then we want to configure another wan link (backup link) in our
linuxrouter, in other interface and we want that link to be active when ever
the main link fails...
3) we need to monitor our traffic usage, as just like now....but the thing is
we need to monitor our new backup-wan-link also with mrtg... we are a bit
confused in that part..
in Linux router
eth0 - bharati pub ip
eth1- new wan link ip
eth2- our Gateway ip (our router ip), and we want subdivide that interface
just like the existing network and give them pub ips...
a) we want to enable the sysctl.conf,
along with static or default routes if needed...
b) enable modprobe and vconfig for vlan settings,
c) enable bgp (for avoiding ip clash and efficient wan link selection) with
zebra software in our linuxrouter...and also those accesslist can be specified
in this software
d) bandwidth allocation for each client using "tc" command and we want to bind
those rules in each wan links .....in eth0 and eth1
e) some firewall configurations
f) monitoring using mrtg...help needed...
these are the basic outline abt the linux router project
I think this will help u to get an overview abt the network planning....
If any body finds correct solution please inform me
