Mounting NFS Problem Help!!


Hi

I have NFS running in my Red hat Linux 8.0 MAchine
I have created a sharde folder for read and write

Now i go to another Linux machine and the want to mount that share from that machine

I give the following command

mount -t nfs 192.168.1.10:/music /music

i get the following error

mount:rpc: port mapper failure -RPC: unable to recieve

So what shall i do i cannot able to access the files

Please help me further

Is the portmap service running on the client machine?
/etc/rc.d/init.d/portmap status

Also after making the share, adding it to your exports file, did you restart NFS services on the server side?

I am having the same exact problem and am finding very little out there about it. Everything for me is running fine on the server and I can mount it via nfs from itself, but not from my other machine. Any ideas?

Same Problem

Hi

Yes I too have the same problem
Everything is fine for me
Portmapper service is running
I also cheked the ports are open
The only thing I am not able to mount from other machines
Please guide me further
