modem will not initialize

my best data isa modem wiil not initialize since i took windows off my system and just reloaded rh7.2. it woked fine before. i tried reloading rh a couple times but same thing.

i set up the com port in windows before i installed linux. when i installed linux i then had to set the irq for modem port and it worked. (this was the old set up.)

i use kpp and it find the modem but initializes forever and never dials. using stty i see the baud rate is 9600. is that low?

thanks in advance for any help.

Question don't quite understand

Second serial out? Could you please explain further. I have one ISA slot on my board which I plug the modem into. I can set the com port and irq with jumpers on the modem. I have tried just about every port and irq. com3 and irq 9 worked best before this problem.

thanks

I tried it and I have no device /dev/ttySo2 ... etc, etc.
I give up. I think it is a bumb modem. i am going to try to cash in on the warranty. I got an external BestData and plugged it into onboard port (/dev/ttyS0) and it works perfectly without any configurations. I will do better with an external anyway because I can use it on my laptop as well.

thanks for your reply.
