The martian_drv.ko driver won't install in the kernel. It keeps saying "disagreement about version of struct_module."
The reason I have to use this driver is because I got a Lucent/Agere DSP modem and it is one of the Mars kinds (according to linmodems.org, they were kind enough to redirect me to the right driver). The driver source compiles just fine but I can't get it installed. I tried doing a modprobe --force install but that resulted in some weird processor data dumped on the screen and then a segmentation fault
. I don't think I should ever try doing --force again. I didn't really have any trouble removing it though and it didn't make my system unstable, it just simply didn't install correctly like that.
So I'm wondering what to do about this "disagreement about version of struct_module" when it comes to installing kernel objects, particularly my modem driver.
