Lucent Agere winmodem causes SUSE 10 lock up
Hi,
I downloaded 2 source code drivers for my lucent agere winmodem,
ltmodem-2.6-alk-7b1.tar.gz,
ltmodem-2.6-alk-8.tar.bz2.
I compiled and installed the driver successfully, then I tried to see if KPP could detect the modem and it got as far as "searching for modem", and the system locked up, originally when there was no driver installed it would just tell me no modem was found, but never locked up, so I must have installed the driver correctly, but SUSE didn't like it.
I tried this with both of the drivers mentioned above and they both caused the same problem.
Is there anything else I can try besides buying a new modem or upgrading to cable/adsl.
If I don't have a choice I may have to buy modem, but I've found that the winmodems connect to the internet at very good speeds compared to external modems, and they also get very good download speeds.
Thanks in advance.
