Exclamation Making permanent changed in /etc/network/interfaces file


halo i have manually configured /etc/network/interfaces in ubuntu linux as:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
hwaddress ether 01:02:03:04:05:06

problem is that every time i boot eth0 changes to eth4 or some other value and have to configure every time after a boot.Can u please help me

Are you saying the contents of the file change or the association between a card and its designation (like eth0 changes? If it is the latter, this can be controlled by the files in /etc/udev/rules.d. I don't have any experience with this, but you can proably find out what you need to know by doing an Internet search on the terms udev and rules.
