Hello, I have two computers.
One is windows XP, and other is dual boot win XP and Mandrake 9.0. LAN is setup on windows without problem. I'm trzing to achive that when I log on to linux to see shared disk on other computer (winXP). I know that has to do with samba (linux-win networking).
I started Mandrake control center, chose mount point, then choose Samba networking and I saw shared disk on other computer. I mounted that, and in /mnt I can see folder, but it's 0 items.
here's my fstab file
I usually take the easy way out and install smb4k. Then I use my mouse to click to the place I need to go. You'll have to add your Linux machine to the workgroup that your Windows machine is using. (Windows XP uses something like "myhome" and Mandy uses something like "mdkgroup".
Well, like I said, I used Mandrake Control center and define mount point /mnt/Novi_mreza. Later in Nautils I typed /mnt and saw Novi_mreza, but it's empty...
I can ping 192.168.0.1 (IP of Novi) and it's OK.
Can you look in my fstab and tell me if you can notice that something is missing?
Obvious question really, but is the Windows shared for a specific user, or guests? Have you made the whole shared folder available under the user name you logged onto the PC (from linux SMB). Do all users have acces to see, change, etc under Windows share?
