Linux Mandarke 9.1 and Netgear MA401 problem

Cant seem to be able to get my MA401 to work in Linux Mandrake 9.1 I reformatted my Redhat 8 and replaced it with Mandrake 9.1. My Netgear MA401RA was working under Redhat 8. I copied the modules.conf and ifcfg-eth1 files but still no worky. When I try insmod orinoco_cs I get a lot of unresolved symbols. card ident does not work. Pcmcia is running though

a snip of dmesg:

I realize that coming from Redhat you would have probably expected the redhat tools to be around. You *might* be able to get these tools in RPM format and install them. However...

Hint for getting comfortable with Mandrake:
- most of the configurations in Mandrake should be done using a family of tools known as 'drak' tools. Their names start with 'drak'. Of these tools, 'drakconf' provides a uniform framework for accessing/configuring almost every aspect of your computer.

Here is what I did to get MA401RA working with MDK9.1 on my laptop (NOTE: This may or may not work when using a PCI adaptor card in a desktop):
- (in your case, see if you can replace /etc/modules.conf with the original one. You wouldn't have to tamper with this)
- pop the card in
- start 'drakconf' as root. Start this from a console so that you can see the messages during configuration
- Goto to the network setup section
- Click on the 'network setup wizard' (and choose autodetection + expert mode)
- your PCMCIA card should be detected now (along with any other NIC's in your system). Yes, the driver should be orinoco but you card will be listed explicitly as MA401.
- Now you should be presented with a window where you can enter the ESSID and enctryption keys etc. If you have multiple NIC's you'll get a configuration window for each device.
- I chose DHCP for my wifi NIC and also entered the encryption key that is generated by my accesspoint. I left the connection type to "Managed". I left all the other fields blank.
- When you accept these changes, the tool will cycle your network connection and you should see corresponding 'stop'/'start' messages in the console.
- Hopefully you got an 'ok' for the start part.

That's it.
Hope this helps.
