Linux-Linux network

I've always configured Linux-Windows networks, but now I want to link two Linux computers between them. I know this should be somethin easy, since *nix computers have been talking to each other long before bill gates earned his first buck. i also know that google must be full of how-to and things of the sort. However, is hard to find something when you don't know how to look for it, or you don't even know what you want exactly. So all I'm asking is some guidance, not step-by-step instructions, just some tips on what to look for later on.
Basically, I want to be able to log remotely from a linux computer to other linux computer, and be able tu use that remote computer as if I were right in front of it. X included.

well you can of course use ssh and forwad X. Or if you prefer a more prepacked remote desktop session tool, you might want to take a look at tightVNC

http://www.tightvnc.com/

Happy hunting

Thanks for the help.
I also found this http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-mini/...X-Apps.html#s1 , which talks about precisely what I want, setting up and old 486 as an X-term.
