Linux & Windows - 2 PC Network

I have two PC's, one with Fedora Core 3 installed and one dual boot system with Windows XP Pro (and Mandrake 10.1).

I have configured the computers' IPs and now I can successfully ping from one to another with no loss. The point is that I need to be able to share files between those computers and therefore I need to be able to "see" the Windows Shares through Linux and vice versa.

Any suggestions/comments/guidelines?

Hi, I have a similiar setup. I run Suse 9.3, my son uses xp. for the windows computer, you need to find the folders you want to share, (or drives) right click on it, then choose sharing and security. put a check mark in share this folder or drive. do this for each one you want to share. for the linux machine, imnot sure about fedora, but in suse I open the control center, choose file sharing, and you choose which folders or drives to share. you need to have a samba server running in order to do this.

General File sharing

A more general, non-distribution method of file sharing from linux to linux, or linux to windows is Samba. To read more information on what Samba is and how to set it up, check out the SMB-HOWTO. Here's a link.
