Kubuntu + using kdesu kcontrol networking

Hi,

Code:
genjix@tower:~$ sudo route add default gw 192.168.1.1
Password:
will setup my internet perfectly but only until I reboot. I know I could put this in a startup script in my home dir, but this seems like a bit of a dirty hack.

if I use "kdesu kcontrol" and type in 192.168.1.1 on the second tab for routes and the default gateway and apply the changes, they don't seem to apply when I click apply.

What other solutions are there?

I just want to add that when I enter the ip address in the default gateway box and move to a different kcontrol module it is no longer there.

where are the internet config files for kubuntu?
