Is you r Cd a Full version or an mini installer?
If it is a full version I assume you can add the cd to your /etc/apt/sources/list or run base-config from root and treconfigure apt sources? Any important data you should back it up first to a cd or a thumbdrive

If you have Ubuntu installed, you don't need to install Kubuntu from the CD. Just go into Synaptic and install the kubuntu package. It should give you the option to boot into KDE the next time you start up.

No Kubuntu desktop environment
Hi...
I installed Kubuntu on Ubuntu. But the starting and log-in srceen are only "Kubuntu", the desktop environment is still "Ubuntu" unlike I saw in Kubuntu Live CD.I want the Kubuntu desktop. Pls help me. (Same happened with Edubuntu)
1st time I inserted the Kubuntu live CD in a additional cd rom(2 roms I had). Then it was attached in Software sources. When I tried to install Kubuntu desktop, it searched internet conn. (Now I have only 1 cdrom)
Is it possible to install downloaded packages(automatically by Synaptic Pkg Man) again in other pcs (install not by hand, by the Pkg Man)?

Way to dig up an old post..
At the log in screen, click Sessions, and choose KDE... since the log in screen is for KDE, I'm assuming you've installed KDE desktop properly.
