Has anyone ever had any luck w/ setting up these samba browsers. I was trying to set one up for my daughter at home to work on our network so she could transfer files to and from a laptop.

I thought they just relied on the smb.conf file for their settings. I can manually mount samba shares just fine (i.e. mount -t smbfs //hostname/sharename /mnt/share. But whenever I try installing or using one of these front ends, they just search the network and never find anything, not even permanent samba mounts in fstab.

In the end, I put the shared side on the linux box and then she works from the Windows laptop. But it's mostly just bugging me that I can't figure out why these aren't working for me.

Edit: BTW, had this problem on Debian Sarge at work and Etch and Sid at home, all w/ 2.6 kernels.
