SMB4K on new mandriva doesn't see the share that the OLD install's smb4k did.

Hello,

For several months I had a linux box (mandriva 2006) and a win2K happily
mounting various shares that I created for a Boss IOGEAR dedicated network
storage accessory (GNS120).

A hardware crash on the linux box left me having to reinstall mandriva.
While the win2k is still working fine,
and sees the same Boss shares as before,
the same default linux install now gives problems with smb4k;
It cannot find the shares that were so easily found before my crash.

This linux box __is on the network ( surfing works and it's IP is seen
by the DHCP server), but it can't see the Boss, and that's new and
completely puzzling.

I'm stuck.
Any thoughts or suggestions ?

Thank you,

Try: Settings-Configure-Network and change the Network Search setting.

Another one which has bitten me in the past: In the Samba section, net, try the different settings.

well, it's not hardware, I was able to mount the volumes via a knoppix cd,
so I have to relearn how to configure a mandriva setup.

Where is this Settings-Configure-Network thing ?

I don't see directly equivalent menu sequence in either SMB4k, LinNeighborhood or drakconf's network sebmenu .

Thanks,
UU

I'm currently chained to a Windows machine so I'm going from memory here.

In SMB4K, find the configuration menu and go from there. You get to it from the last but one item on the menu bar.
