I had DSL and am switching to cable modem for the speed and to save money. Well i have the cable modem installed and it appears to be working fine. I have a SMC Barricade hooked up as a router between my 2 computers (1 running XP and the other running Linux) and the cable modem. My XP computer can access the internet and the linux box fine (I have a web and mail server on the linux box). My Linux box can ping my XP computer. But my Linux box cannot access the internet (it cannot ping ip addresses, i thought it was a DNS name resoving issue first, but i tried ip addresses that work from my XP machine and there is no response for the linux box).

Any ideas? I changed the resolv.conf file for the new , but not much else when I switched providers. Because i'm behind the barricade i shouldn't have to change the ip address, should I?

actually that was a problem with my router. I've fixed that issue by restarting the router. working on resetting things to try to fix slow response times between my computer and the linux box for checking mail.
