internet connection


Hello all- I just purchased a used dell notebook running kubotu. I have a pcmia wireless card to connect to the internet thru a linksys router that has always worked before with my windows notebook. what do I need to do to make the connection? Thanks!

I am not sure what to do as far as the wireless, but what operating system is it? You said "kubotu", do you by any chance mean Kubuntu? A little clarification will help solve the problem.

A little bit of research & reading: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy

I know it says Ubuntu Guide, Kubuntu is the same except it uses the KDE desktop by default, Ubuntu uses the Gnome desktop.

Thank you both for your replies- Yes it is Kubuntu Linux- when I insert the PCMIA card it is recognized and working on the notebook.....would there be something on the computer connected to the router that needs changed or an ip address on the notebook that needs to be entered? and how would that be done?

All the information you need is at that link I gave you above.
