Gentoo stage 1 install

I am attempting a Stage 1 Gentoo install. I can boot to Knoppix and access the web just fine however when booting to a Gentoo minimal install CD IFconfig shows that I have no network. My network card is imbedded Intel 82540EM card. How can I determine what modules are needed to support this card?

Your module should be "e1000" without quotes

Boot the Knoppix CD and run lsmod on the command line see which modules are loaded
