ftp problem!
hey guys,
i've got a linux machine acting as a dialin server giving dialin users access to internet .everythings fine except that i am unable to access any ftp sites when i connect to the internet thru my server.( infact i can connect to this ftp site, but is unable to view the contents of any of the directories it hosts) ,
what kills me is that this same ftp site is accessible when i connect using a different dialup connection(not thru my server!)i can see what all files are in each directory and can download them too..
i dialed into to my server using a windows machine and iam given access to the internet .now ,i used command line in winbox accessing an ftp site .i can connect to the ftp site but when i try to list the contents of the directory and i get this error:
ftp>ls<return>
500 Illegal port command
425 Can't build data connection: Connection refused
ftp>
but i can change directories by ftp>cd somedir and use "get" to download files ,provided i know the name of the file beforehand.:-)..
when i use a different dialup connection
ftp>ls
lists all of the files in the directory...:-(
what's wrong with my connection?pls help!
thanx
