I am behind a corporate firewall and trying to access the net using a box with Mandrake 9.1 on it. I can easily connect with any Windows based browsers by setting up the proxy server address and it's port. I have tried the same technique with the browsers within Mandrake with no success. When going into the Control Center, I am unable to get the Internet status to connect. Do I need to have the Gateway field on this screen set to my proxy server? I have tried setting it with no success. I did notice that when I go into LAN configuration that the IP address is blank. Shouldn't this auto populate once a network connection is detected? I tested and know that the wire and LAN jack are working properly. Please advise.... Thank you.

Sounds like your dhcp client didn't get an ip address. Either fix that, or get a fixed address from your it dept. Stealing one from the dhcp pool is generally considered bad form.
