Unhappy FA311 and RedHat 8.0

hey. I got a FA311 because my last network card didnt work with my redhat 8, and now it wont work.

I goto the internet config screen and select Nat Semi DP83815, and then just click next. but it doesnt work. i dont know much about linux but as all the other linux noobs say, I know my way around windows quite well. The light on the card is off... and when i try to activate it it gives me a error about not being able to.

can anyone help?

*also when i tried to compile the driver that came with it, it gave me a bunch of errors.

Question

Fa311 netgear? It should use the tulip default driver if it is a fa311 netgear. I would just stick with 3com it's easier.

The FA311 card uses the natsemi module which should be already included. try loading the module manually

insmod natsemi

The 310 uses the tulip and the 312 uses the natsemi. I am not sure about the 311 though. I unfortunatly have both in my RH box.

insmod is located in /sbin which usually isn't in the path for a normal user.
