Experimental LAN Router

To experiment some experimental TCP queues, i have to configure 3 linux boxes :

Machine1 (ip1)|---------|(ip2) MachineRouter (ip3)|---------|(ip4) Machine2

How to configure each machine to allow Machine1 to see Machine2 and vice&versa.

Thanks in advance!

Machine1 (ip1)|---------|(ip2) MachineRouter (ip3)|---------|(ip4) Machine2

Following your map
==================================
Machine1
(IP1) = 192.168.10.5
Subnet mask = 255.255.225.0
Gateway = 192.168.10.1

Machine2
(IP2) = 192.168.10.1
(IP2) = 192.168.10.2
Subnet mask = 255.255.225.0

Machine3
(IP4) = 192.168.10.6
Subnet mask = 255.255.225.0
Gateway = 192.168.10.2

ok musicman_ace what about this configuration

WINDOWS Machine1
(IP1) = 192.168.10.5
Subnet mask = 255.255.225.0
Gateway = 192.168.10.1

Machine2 Linux router [eth0]
(IP2) = 192.168.10.1
(IP2) = 192.168.20.1
Subnet mask = 255.255.225.0

Windows Machine3
(IP4) = 192.168.20.6
Subnet mask = 255.255.225.0
Gateway = 192.168.20.1

# vi /etc/sysctl.conf
# Controls IP packet forwarding
net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1

Now in the above configuration will the windows machine1 can see the shared contents and the computername of windows machine3 if he browses his network neibhourhood..If not ? any possibility!!. with out using SAMBA.

Are you trying to bind multiple IP addresses to one network card?

Thanks for yours answers. Now I have :

MachineRouter eth0 : 192.168.126.10
MachineRouter eth1 : 192.168.126.11

Machine1 : 192.168.126.12, gateway : 192.168.126.10
Machine2 : 192.168.126.13, gateway : 192.168.126.11

On router, i do :
ip add route 192.168.126.13 via 192.168.126.12

Now :
- Machine1 and Machine2 can ping the 2 router's ip
- Router can ping the 2 machines

But Machine1 can't ping Machine2 and vice&versa.

Any ideas?

ok do the following

#vi /etc/sysctl.conf

sys_ip_forward =0 [something like this]

make that 0 to 1

#/sbin/sysctl -p

But i dont under stand why you are making a router if your all the ip are on the same network

i mean 192.168.10.0/24. you can just go and buy your self a 4 port swithch. You would need a router if you had my situation.the situation i have posted above!!
