DSL Upload very slow #2

Disregard below mixing Windows ping with Linux ping!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry!!!!!

Started a thread on 22/01/2004 under title DSL Upload very slow. Don't know whether I should have added this to that as part of my continuing investigation to resolve the problem. Can anyone explain the following. I've tried it with different valuess of MTU all with same result, I have to <Ctrl-C> to abend the ping as it just keeps displaying . (dots) on the third line of the response, it then reponds with the remaining lines.

ping -f -l 1460 <a url>
WARNING: probably, rcvbuf is not enough to hold preload.
PING ( 56(84) bytes of data.

--- ping statistics ---
2917 packets transmitted, 712 received, 75% packet loss, time 19959ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 105.773/579.090/1031.984/288.550 ms, pipe 1460, ipg/ewma

Thanks in anticipation
