Domain controll

Hi, im a newbie

Anyway, I have web hosting at www.acecad.com.au done by an external company

Is it possible to make a subdomain on a non-static (or even static) IP of say blah.acecad.com.au point to my computer?

Thanks for your help!

That would be completely server-side setup, for the most part. It's called a subdomain, and if you have a static IP, they may offer the option of pointing blah.acecad.com.au to your static IP (or your dyndns.org account, even). But you would have to talk to them about it.

If you wanted to manage your own domain (i.e. host it yourself) you'd need to:

1) Configure a Name server with the DNS (zone files, etc) for your domain

2) Submit a re-delegation request to whoever you registered the domain with. This basically is a request to change the name server information for your domain.

3) Ideally have a static IP address.
