slack10/controll panel


why when i click on controll in slack 10 does that screen freeze?
any ideas please?
I am using konqueror 3.2.3(using KDE 3.2.3)

Ehh, have you tried waiting around on it for a minute?
It could be loading. KDE is a seriously huge bloated thing, it is.

well the problem being this i can go in to controll panel no problem when i click on "peripherals" then "printers" it takes about 7-8 minutes to load up then if i try to click on properties or any other button they dont work so i figure there must be a problem some where i can go in to controll panell and use any thing else it just printers it dont work for any help appreciated

My guess would be that its scanning for printers when selecting it. If you have none or it can't find any, that's what's causing it to hang.

If you have a printer, configure it by other means, don't depend on the GUI control panel would be my suggestion.

you can configure your printer from a web browser, just run http://localhost:631

i went to the link above link butb when the page loads and i click add printer or delete printer the page come up with this error

An error occurred while loading http://blueyonder.co.uk:631/admin/?o...name=epsonc60:


Timeout on server
Connection was to blueyonder.co.uk at port 631

Configure it using cups.

Nevermind, I'm an idiot and was thinking of something totally different.

i dont understand why when i go to this webpage i get an error saying it cant contact blueyonder why would it need to contact blueyonder

iv done a little reading about cups iv read to type this command in to a terminal "/usr/sbin/cupsd"which will make sure cups is started i get a error message which says "cupsd: Child exited with status 98!"
can any body tell me what this means please

ok can any one tell me why it has to be port "631" it says it cant connect on that port so why cant i tell it to use another port if so what port should i tell it to use
