ok, here's the deal.

I'm trying to connect to the net via a NetGear RP114 router.
I've tried setting up my RealTech 8029 nic to get its info via dhcp. Only ctach is, I get an error saying that DHCPCD is unable to get the IP info. Any help would be accpeted with wide open arms.

I had a similar problem with Slackware and DHCPCD that I posted here a few days ago; basically I did some googling through the linux-kernel mailing lists and found that there were some issues with the certain network card I was using in the 2.4.5 kernel, so I downgraded to a 2.2.19 kernel, and everything worked fine. I just upgraded to the latest stable version, and everything works great.

My card was also a realtech card, so there is a similarity there.

I think it might be your kernel version, try a new one (either the latest stable one or something before the 2.4.4 kernel).
