Colocation setup

Hi everyone,

I'm a relative newbie, about to get neck deep in it. I'm researching a colocation option and have a question.

What is information I need to configure a linux server (Fedora 3) for colocation?

Thanks in advance,

Raj

Welcome to LQ.

Initialy you will just need to ask the colo staff what IP address/netmask to use and which address should be used as a default route/gateway.

So long as you set it up with a service you can control the system by - ie ssh, you can make any changes you want after installation.

I've managed to obtain the ip, subnet, gateway and dns from the datacentre.

How do I config them? what is the command? and how do I verify that the config is done right?

Appreciate your help

You should be able to use the "netconfig" command which will prompt you for details.

You can verify the changes with:
ifconfig
route -n

Also make sure you have a remote admin service like ssh running and the firewall open before you've finished.
