Code:
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:08:0D:28:A6:37
          inet addr:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx  Bcast:255.255.255.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: xxxx::xxx:xxx:xxxx:xxxx/64 Scope:Link
          UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:3777 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:4002 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:2879286 (2.7 Mb)  TX bytes:655145 (639.7 Kb)

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:16436  Metric:1
          RX packets:46 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:46 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:2948 (2.8 Kb)  TX bytes:2948 (2.8 Kb)
That is the result of ifconfig on my system. The line:
Code:
inet addr:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx  Bcast:255.255.255.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
gives the information you are after - "inet addr" is the ip info.
