Cannot login to ftp account via Mozilla or Firefox

Hello,

I am attempting to log in to an ftp account (ftp.domainname.com) and am receiving the following error:

530: Please tell me who you are.

The only option within the error message/dialog box is OK, therefore I choose it. But nothing happens afterwards.

I can access the same ftp account via Konqueror. Does anyone know what gives with Mozilla and/or Firefox?

You could try putting the username and password in the address like this:

user:password@ftp.domain.com

Or if it was the password first, can't remember.

Here it is 2010 and there are still versions of Firefox out there that require this. The correct syntax is ftp://username@yourftpsite.com or .net afterwhich you will be prompted for your password securely. I am writing this on version 1.7.
