Cannot ftp large binary files to SuSE 7.1 box

I seem to have a problem putting files to my linux box. The transfer starts and then just freezes. This only happens with larger binary files. I cannot figure it out. Can anyone help?

Are you setting the binary file type before the transfer? How much of the file gets transfered? What OS is the other host? What ftp client?

I am using SuSE 7.1 with the 2.4 kernel.
The files were getting "stuck" at variable times. It seems like anything over 400kb was not getting to the server.
I am using ftpd v6.5.
I fixed the problem by replacing the LNE100TX card with a 3c905C-TX-M card. It works.
I have always had problems with the tulip driver.
