FTP files from DOS box to LINUX box
Is it possible to use ftp on a Windows XP machine to send files to a Linux box, running Fedora Core 3? If not, how can this be done?

FTP is one way to do it.. or you can download WinSCP which uses the ssh protocol to use scp from Windows to Linux.. setup a Samba share.. many many ways to do this, your choice.

Hello there:
Have you tried a different way other than ftp, I remember I used to want to do that, but I solved with ssh secure shell, it's a windows program which has a separate part which is called ssh secure file tranfer, where you can log as a regular user or a special created user and upload and download files with no problems from windows to linux.
The only thing you need in fedora is to start the ssh daemon
Maybe this is not what you are looking for, but it is a very good choice and I think even more secure
Hope this helps

Thanks for all the suggestions. Maybe you all can help me with a little clarification. I had tried ftp from Window (DOS) but it couldn't see the directories on the Linux box in order to send the files there. Should I have been able to do this without using Samba to share the directories? That would be much easier than setting up a Samba share if it is possible.
Same point of clarification if I would use WinSCP, can I just use that application or do I also have to do some additional setup so that the directory structure on the Linux box can be seen by the Windows box? Thanks.

Also, I forgot, I am wanting to transfer the files automatically on a regular basis. Is it still practical to use an application like WinSCP or could it only be done with a method from the command line, like running a batch file or script? Thanks.
