Can I get a nice hostname on Redhat 7.3?

Hi,

I have successfully set up RH Linux 7.3, Apache, PHP and MySQL on a box I want to use as a server. I can access my server from my windows machine, via ping or to see the Apache default page, with the IP (192.168.1.84).

However, I would like to be able to access it via "oberon/" - i.e a nice hostname.

I have already changed the linux hostname (it says root@oberon for my shell prompt).

I don't have any GUI installed....

Thankyou!

Add an entry in the HOSTS file on the Win box (in WinXp it's \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) The format is the same as the linux /etc/hosts file.

Cool thanks that works great!

Is there a way I can do it automatically, so that any computer on the network can access it via that name without editing the hosts file?
