Can't connect to the Internet can anyone help?

Looking for some help.

I am currently sitting on a Linux Fedora 2 server and wish to connect to the Internet.

I open up my web browser and type in www.google.com.
I get the message "www.google.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again".

I try another address such as www.yahoo.ca and I get the same message as above.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Try using an actual public IP.

Are you sure your NIC is configured?

Is the eth0-n up and working?

Were you able to connect to the Internet before?

Can you connect to any local machines on your internal network?

Currently me and my lab partner have two computers set up. One is our client and the other is our server. Our server is set up as a DHCP server and both client and server are connected to each other by a dlink hub.

There is no actual Internet connection until we disconnect the hub from both computers and plug our server's network cable into our college's corporate network.

When we do this we stop our dhcpd daemon, change the settings in our resolv.conf file, we set our server to automatically obtain an IP address through DHCP and then we restart our network by using the command "service network restart"

The NIC is properly configured (as far as i know)

Eth0 is present

We were able to connect to the Internet because we have done this before.

Our firewall has been turned off.

Our college's DHCP server responds back to us and assigns our server a IP address but we still can't get any connection.

So we have no clue as what the problem could be.

Is the computer getting a valid IP address?

Check your routing tables

Can you ping the gateway, and DNS servers?

Thanks. The problem was our server was not picking up the default gateway so we just added it and its working again.

Thanks everyone for all your help.
