can't connect to internet with Telewell usb adsl modem in mandriva 2007
Hello.
Firstly I am a newbie. I mean really, really green when it comes to Linux. I installed Mandriva One 2007 today after umming and ahhing for some time about ditching windows. In the edn the porcess, including re-partitioning my hard drive was a delightfully straight forward and painless procedure. I still have windows on my box as i need to use Photoshop and Flash but i am really, really liking the way Linux looks and handles. I am also loving being out of Mr Gates' clutches. But I digress. Everything went great with the install except that I can not connect to the internet. I have a USB ADSL modem maunufactured by Telewell, along with drivers for Linux which I installed. From what I can tell Mandriva has recognised the modem as I have been able to inspect it under hardware management in the MCC. I have tried the network connection wizard a number of time but I am really quite out of my depth. ANY advice on how to configure my network settings to enable me to connect to the internet would be massively appreciated. On an unrelated issue, Mandriva seems to have incorrectly identified my ATI Radeon xpress 1100 video card
as an x200 or something similar, any ideas?
I have a Fujitsu Siemens box with AMD Athlon 64 3200 processor, 512 mb RAM if that is any help.
I hope someone can help this new but eager to learn Linux virgin as I really wish to become profficient in the operation of Linux. I look forward to hearing from you.
SIncerely,
Matthew Hunt
