Bittorrent has stopped working
Hey guys,
I have been using rtorrent as by bittorrent client, and getting consistantly good speeds on healthy torrents ~150-200 kb/s. Now all of a sudden, I cannot download. I didn't know what was up, so I upgraded (sudo apt-get update && upgrade) and now have the latest kernel and rtorrent and libtorrent. I started the down load again, and it is getting about ~.05-.1 kb/s. My ISP is comcast. I have no idea what is going on. I downloaded azureus then on another machine (OS X), and the same problem. Does anyone know what is going on? Any fixes?
P.S. both machines have static IP's
P.S.S. The ports are forwarded
Hi, your ISP may have blocked the ports used by bittorent, I'd suggest trying out another port, the best would be one above 50000; as those aren't much used.
Well, I'd suggest checking that this only affects bittorrent (download a big file, and watch how fast it goes). Supposing that you have everything configured correctly, I don't see what could be wrong, except perhaps getting banned by the trackers, or your ISP banning them. I'm not saying this is what's going on, but I see it as a possible explanation.
Also, are the 2 PCs connected separately to the Internet, or do you have a locale network with a modem(gateway)?
P.S. try with a few other clients, the best would be if they were completely separate (not using the same bittorrent libraries).
