bind - how to define cache lifetime?

hi there.

as already stated, i got stuck defining the cache lifetime for isc's bind.

i set the "cleaning-interval" directive to 1176 hours (1 week), but, obviously, this didnt help at all...bind is still flushing the cache after 1 hour (which is the default value).

is there any directive, or any way at all, to define the cache lifetime?

"Caching name Server will respond with its locally stored data (the cache) until the time-to-live (TTL) value of the response expires at which time the server will refresh the data from the zone master."

$TTL value is set in the authoritative name server zone file which you have no control over. If you are authoritative for a zone then you can set the $TTL for that zone.
